Gladys, my dear friend, I am so glad I got to know you and can call you my friend. You were an inspiration, such a positive and fun loving person, I will keep that with me forever and hope to live my life the way you did. I won’t forget your rosy cheeks and smile. I’ll take comfort knowing that you aren’t in pain anymore and are now at rest with your husband who you spoke about so fondly and by the stories you told me, you were very much in love. I know you are together again now.
I will miss you, until we meet again xxxx

So many happy memories. Hearing her chat to her sisters when they met over the years. When she stayed, taking her out with mum was a pleasure seeing them together. Enlightening stories, she was a link to my parents, mum’s sister but she also knew my dad’s family too. An insight into the times she lived in. Stories of Nan and life growing up which wasn’t easy, especially being evacuated. She was stoical and very positive always recalling the good amongst the bad. She was so enthusiastic, interested in everything, and had such awe and wonder and appreciation of her experiences, that, and her energy impressed everyone. She was kind caring for the less fortunate, from a friendship for life to protecting a vulnerable stranger. She stood up for what she believed was right. A sense of humour, seeing the funny side of things. Brave and courageous after she lost Uncle Dave and in the years ahead. At the heart of everything was family. We will truly miss our Aunty Glad, all the family felt she was very special and she was loved very much by us all. She made the world a better place and she will always be remembered.

Miss our chats over the fence. Was like having another Grandma. We told Felicity you have gone to the moon as that’s what happens when people leave us, so she waves whenever she sees it. Nicola xxx
